Fallout 76
Welcome to Appalachia, Vault Dweller! Whether you’re fresh out of Vault 76 or returning after a long break, West Virginia is a beautiful, mutated mess.
Here’s a simple guide to help you survive the Scorched and thrive in the wasteland.
️ Getting Started: The Basics
Unlike previous Fallout games, 76 is a live-service multiplayer world. However, you can play most of it solo if you prefer the “lone wanderer” vibe.
Follow the Main Quest: Don’t just wander around aimlessly. Follow the Wayward and Overseer quests early on. They give you essential blueprints (like the Water Purifier) and introduce you to the game’s factions.
The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. System: You gain a point in a stat every level until 50. Use Perk Cards to customize your build. Don’t worry too much—you can swap cards anytime and use Punch Card Machines (at train stations) to reset your stats for free after level 25.
Scrap Everything: If you’re not using a weapon or armor piece, scrap it at a workbench to learn new mods and gather crafting components.
☢️ Survival Essentials
The hunger and thirst mechanics no longer kill you if ignored, but keeping them full gives you significant boosts to Action Points and HP.
| Resource | Best Source | Pro Tip |
| Caps | Public Events & Selling to Robots | Join “Test Your Metal” or “Moonshine Jamboree” for quick cash. |
| Adhesive | Duct Tape, Glue, or Gardening | Plant Mutfruit, Corn, and Taters + Purified Water = Vegetable Starch. |
| Screws | Fans, Typewriters, Clipboards | These are the “gold” of the wasteland. Never pass them up. |
| Stimpacks | Healing | Dilute them at a Chem Station to make your supply last longer. |
C.A.M.P. and Crafting
Your Construction and Assembly Mobile Platform (C.A.M.P.) is your home base.
Location Matters: Build near a water source or a resource node (like Lead or Junk) to automate your gathering.
Blueprinting: If you build a structure you love, save it as a blueprint so you can move your camp easily without rebuilding from scratch.
Vending Machines: Set up a vendor to sell your unwanted legendary items, ammo, and plans to other players. It’s the best way to keep a steady flow of Caps.
Social and Public Events
Join a Public Team: Even if you want to play alone, join a “Casual” team. You get an Intelligence buff (more XP) and free fast-travel points to your teammates’ camps.
Participate in Public Events: Look for the exclamation point icons on the map every 20 minutes. These are the best way to get Treasury Notes, Legendary Cores, and rare loot.
Pacifist Mode: Unless you want to engage in PvP, keep Pacifist Mode ON in your settings to avoid accidental fights with other players.
Quick Tips for Success
Weight Management: Wood and Gunpowder weigh more than you think. Keep an eye on your “Misc” and “Ammo” tabs.
The “Sleep” Buff: Sleep in a bed for 30 seconds to get the “Rested” buff (+5% XP for an hour).
Check the Blue Suitcases: High-level players often leave unwanted plans and ammo in blue suitcases at train stations for newbies. It’s the unspoken “take a penny, leave a penny” of the wasteland.
Would you like me to create a specific “Leveling Build” for your character (like a Stealth Sniper or a Power Armor Tank)?
